If there is any truth to this actually being a Microsoft issue, would the simplest solution be to plug in a USB 3.0 hub, plug the CAMEO 1 into the hub and cross my fingers in hopes that Windows doesn't realize a USB 1.0 device is plugged into the USB 3.0 hub? I assume that Windows is only concerned with the data traffic between the hub and the laptop being USB 3.0 and is going to let the hub deal with sorting out what is USB 1.0, USB 3.0, etc. She does a lot of work for a couple of non-profit organizations, craft gifts and such, and this is very frustrating. The problem is I can't find any reference to this except for an article on a Silhouette blog ( ) so I am unsure if this is actually a Windows issue or if Silhouette is throwing Microsoft under the bus to overshadow the fact they want everyone using the CAMEO 1 to upgrade to the conveniently soon-to-be-released CAMEO 4 instead of using a perfectly functional device that still does everything the average CAMEO user needs it to do. "As of Augand with the release of Windows 10 1809, 1903 andĪbove Microsoft no longer supports USB 1.0 connections via a USB 3.0 After poking around on Google, etc., the 18 builds of Windows 10 supposedly dropped support of USB 1.0 devices over USB 3.0 interfaces: All of a sudden the Silhouette software stopped recognizing the CAMEO - as in the day after she had completed several projects with no issue. I have a Silhouette CAMEO 1 device (for the uninitiated it cuts vinyl and the like for craft projects. In the images below of Janis Joplin, you can see the edge of the film he used, an 8×10 (yes inches) negative that produced incredibly detailed and sharp images. My wife has a laptop running Windows 10 (build 1809), all USB ports appear to be 3.0. Much of his work is also in black and white, photographed using a large format camera (like the one in the portrait of Arnold Newman above).
